The Men’s Adventure Quarterly #3 — the “Vigilante Justice” issue, featuring Mack Bolan (PAPERBACK)
In 1969, Don Pendleton’s first two novels about Mack Bolan, “The Executioner” launched one of the most influential action/adventure paperback series ever created. It established a new type of modern hero: battle-hardened Vietnam War veterans who had the skills and guts to impose bloody, “vigilante justice” on mobsters and other villains who evade the criminal justice system.
This special third issue of the MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY features exclusive reprints of “Book Bonus” versions of the first two Executioner novels, originally published in men’s adventure magazines (MAMs). They’re accompanied by an article written by Don’s wife, author Linda Pendleton, who provides insights into the evolution of the Executioner.
MAQ #3 also features: an introduction by the legendary comics writer and novelist Chuck Dixon; three other classic vigilante justice stories from MAMs; a special art gallery section featuring original Executioner cover paintings by artist Gil Cohen, who created most of the classic Mack Bolan covers; a photo spread about pinup model Bettie Page; plus a look at artist Jack Faragasso’s paintings of Bettie and reference photos.
It’s high-impact entertainment you won’t find anywhere else except the pages of the MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY!
“…remains one of the most impressive, beautifully designed publications available today.” – James Reasoner, Author THE CIVIL WAR BATTLE SERIES, LONGARM, THE TRAILSMAN

The Men’s Adventure Quarterly #2, the “Espionage Issue” — ’60s spy stories & art (PAPERBACK)
This ALL-ESPIONAGE issue of MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY celebrates spy stories from vintage men’s adventure magazines. These behind-enemy-lines, nail-biting spy thrillers, and articles are brilliantly written by Walter Kaylin, Don Honig, Robert F. Dorr, and many others. Illustrated by renowned artists such as Mort Künstler, Vic Prezio, and Walter Popp. The MAQ Cover Gallery features some of the wildest in espionage illustration, and the MAQ Gal-lery features the ladies who could become “Jane Bond.” More than “swinging spy-fi” this issue of the MAQ is a mission back into the dirty dealings and desperate acts of agents of the Cold War Intelligence services who used any means necessary to succeed. MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY is an acknowledged leader in republishing men’s adventure fiction for new readers.

Talking with J. Kingston Pierce about artist Ron Lesser…
EDITOR’S NOTE: J. Kingston Pierce is one of the world’s foremost experts on crime novels and vintage paperback cover art. For almost six years, he was the lead crime-fiction blogger…
NEW! THE ART OF RON LESSER VOLUME 2: Dangerous Dames and Cover Dolls
This second volume in THE ART OF RON LESSER series showcases scores of original paintings of sexy real and fictional women Ron has created in recent decades, including Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, Brigitte Bardot, Vampirella and Red Sonja. It also includes many of his modern “dangerous dame” paintings—new variations of the type of vintage paperback cover art he did early in his career. Volume 2 in the Lesser art series has a Foreword by another legendary cover artist, Joe Jusko, an introduction by Dan Zimmer, Editor of ILLUSTRATION magazine and many excellent art books, and commentary by Ron himself about his paintings and career. The paperback cover and movie poster artwork Lesser initially became famous for in the 1960s and 1970s is featured in THE ART OF RON LESSER, VOL 1: DEADLY DAMES AND SEXY SIRENS, also available in this bookstore here. Both volumes were co-edited with Ron by vintage magazine and paperback expert Robert Deis (editor of the Men’s Adventure Library book series and the MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY) and popular graphic designer and head of the Pulp 2.0 indie publishing company, Bill Cunningham.
