The MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY #10, the Vietnam War Issue (full color edition)
The MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY #10, the Vietnam issue, reprints some of the best men’s adventure magazine stories about the Vietnam War published in the 1960s and 1970s. They include a story by Mario Puzo, author of THE GODFATHER, first published under the pseudonym he used for the many MAM stories he wrote early in his career, Mario Cleri and a story about Barry Sadler and his song “Ballad of the Green Berets.” In addition to story reprints, MAQ #10 features a special Art Gallery section showcasing other Vietnam War cover paintings by Mel Crair, articles about Vietnam War novel series by vintage paperback expert and writer Paul Bishop, author Nicholas Cain’s account of the making of the movie based on his novel SAIGON COMMANDOS, a photo feature about Raquel Welch’s 1967 USO Tour to Vietnam with Bob Hope, and a unique article by MAQ Co-Editor and designer Bill Cunningham about the now nearly forgotten PS MAGAZINE comics designed to educate GI’s about preventive maintenance on their guns, featuring artwork by Will Eisner, creator of THE SPIRIT.

The MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY #6 — the “Heists” issue features: classic stories and artwork from vintage men’s adventure that involve heists and capers, plus exclusive articles about various aspects of the heist genre in vintage media by me, my co-editor Bill Cunningham (who designs the MAQ), retromedia maven and Vlogger Jules Burt, and writer, editor and podcaster Paul Bishop. The cool cover painting was done by Mort Kunstler, who graciously allowed us to use it and other art we’ve featured in the MAQ. The Men’s Adventure Quarterly #1 — classic Western stories & art issue (PAPERBACK)
The MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY is a lushly-illustrated, full color magazine launched in 2021 that reprints and discusses classic stories and artwork from men’s adventure magazines published in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. This first issue reprints rip-snorting Western stories by Lou Cameron, Dean W. Ballenger, Jack Pearl, Don Honig and other veteran action/adventure writers. Each story is accompanied by the cover of the magazine it appeared in and the original interior artwork, plus an introduction with background information on the writer, artist or magazine. Issue #1 also includes a special Western cover gallery featuring artwork by great artists like Frank McCarthy, Mort Künstler, Rafael DeSoto, Robert Stanley, Vic Prezio, Norm Eastman, Wil Hulsey, Charles Copeland, Bob Schulz and many others.
